West Ham can shove Arne Slot in same group as Frank Lampard and Erik ten Hag amid Liverpool sack news

Not many Premier League followers would have expected Arne Slot’s job to be under threat ahead of Liverpool’s trip to West Ham in late November – but here we are.

Despite winning the Premier League title last season and being dubbed on social media as the champions of the summer transfer window, Liverpool are 12th in the standings after 12 games, just seven points ahead of relegation-threatened West Ham.

Graham Potter was sacked and replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo in September, and there are now increased calls for Slot to be dismissed by Liverpool if his side’s form continues to worsen.

The reigning Premier League champions have lost their last three games, all by three goals, to Manchester City (3-0), Nottingham Forest (3-0) and PSV (4-1).

Meanwhile, West Ham’s form is on the mend ahead of taking on Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot could face same fate as other managers – sacked after losses vs West Ham

Don’t get us wrong, it would still be a huge shock if West Ham beat Liverpool this weekend, despite how bad the Mersysiders are performing domestically and in Europe.

However, the Irons have a history of getting managers axed by beating them in the Premier League.

In October last year, Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag after West Ham beat them 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Everton sacked ex-West Ham midfielder Frank Lampard in January 2023, just a day after his side lost to the Irons 2-0.

In 2022, Bruno Lage was axed by Wolves after a 2-0 loss to the Irons and even as far back as 2015, the East London club’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at Upton Park led to Jose Mourinho‘s dismissal.

What Nuno Espirito Santo has said about pressure on Arne Slot

West Ham welcome Liverpool to the London Stadium on Sunday, in search of their first win against the North-West club since a 3-2 victory over them four years ago.

Since that game, when Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma were both on the scoresheet, there have been nine meetings between the two clubs, with the Hammers picking up just one point.

There’s no doubt that despite the pressure on Slot, recent history certainly favours Liverpool.

Speaking ahead of the game, Nuno spoke about the decision-making that the under-pressure Dutchman could make.

“I don’t know,” said Nuno, when asked what he anticipates from Slot.

“We can expect anything, especially teams that are in European competitions. Due to the amount of games, we cannot predict the starting XI. No matter who starts, we are going to face a tough XI.”
