View: West Ham will want to ignore shocking Moyes stat in hunt for striker

West Ham fans will be doing their best to ignore a shocking David Moyes stat that will not fill them with confidence as the Irons look to secure a striker in January.

In his 24 years so far as a manager the Scot has signed only six striker’s worth over £5million with a combined cost of just over £50million as per Claret & Hugh.

Hammers would have their eyes set on one striker worth that much but going by Moyes’ track record, that looks unlikely.

Much needed back up for Michail Antonio looks more unlikely by the day as the end of the January transfer window approaches.

Unbelievable

It is impossible to blame Moyes completely for the lack of a new striker in January, but that statistic is bizarre.

Whether he is picky with his forwards or simply uninterested with flamboyant forwards throughout his career is completely unknown but with where West Ham are as a club at the moment, it has to be better.

The money is supposedly there to spend and the squad needs strengthening so why on earth have no signings been made?

West Ham

West Ham fans will be sick to the teeth of stating that a backup for Antonio is needed the club can’t afford to regret not bringing someone in.

If the team wants to continue to progress and challenge on all fronts, they must make their squad more robust.

The recent loss against Manchester United was a key indicator. There was no difference between the two sides until Ralf Rangnick made several subs who combined to score the winner.

That could be the difference between winning trophies and Champions League football and the club must take notice if the Irons are to take it to the next level.
