View: West Ham signing Kalvin Phillips could have negative impact on squad
West Ham needs to be very cautious with their spending this summer amid links to Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, as per GIVEMESPORT.
The Hammers have already failed with a massive £55million bid back in the January transfer window and you can expect the Whites to squeeze every last penny out of their star man should he leave Elland Road.
David Moyes’ squad is in desperate need of attention in several other areas and whilst the England international would be a brilliant signing, it might not be such a good idea to splash so much cash on one player.

Not to mention the fact that West Ham’s midfield partnership is currently one of their strongest in the squad which means their money would be better spent elsewhere.
Think smart
This season has shown several gaping holes in the Irons squad. First and foremost, striker.
Michail Antonio has done excellently all season long holding it down up front all by himself. The club failed to replace second choice striker Sebastian Haller when he departed east London and the Jamaican has been feeling the brunt of it ever since.
He needs backup in summer and there will be outrage amongst the fans if he doesn’t get it. That should be the clubs’ number one priority.

The Hammers also need several defenders. With Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna both approaching the ends of their careers, West Ham needs to replace them and sooner rather than later.
That doesn’t mean getting rid of them, Moyes can bring in backup options who can gradually take over from the senior duo or even better, sign a centre-back who will make the team better alongside Kurt Zouma and use the senior pair when needed.
A left-back is another position that could do with freshening up. Aaron Cresswell has been brilliant this season but his availability through fitness has been a problem this season.
With Arthur Masuaku simply not good enough to make the position his own, he must be moved on and replaced.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have to replace Michail Antonio to improve according to Dean Jones.
