View: West Ham receive boost with Manchester City potentially missing Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his team could be without star centre-back Aymeric Laporte and veteran defensive midfielder Fernandinho for the clash against West Ham.
The Manchester-based club will face the Hammers in an important fixture on Sunday at the London Stadium.
Talking about the match on Friday, Guardiola confirmed that both players are still recovering from knee and muscle injuries.

“They [Laporte and Fernandinho] are in treatment,” he said as quoted by Manchester Evening News. “It’s two days. I think until the day of the game we will not be able to decide exactly the availability of the players.”

Good news
The potential absence of Manchester City’s star duo — Laporte and Fernandinho — will be great news for West Ham United players, in particular their attacking unit who are also struggling with some injuries.
As things stand, the Hammers are placed in the seventh position of the league table, just three behind sixth-placed Manchester United but having played a game less.
Therefore, manager David Moyes will be hoping that the absence of key City players will help his team in securing an unlikely win to keep their hopes alive of a place in the Europa League next season.
On the other hand, the reigning champions’ coaching staff, players and fans will be hoping to see their star duo return to action for the all-important clash on Sunday.
The Manchester-based club are sitting pretty at the top of the league table with just two matchdays to go, having three points lead over second-placed Liverpool.
