View: West Ham must sign Leandro Trossard after his transfer admission

West Ham must move again for Brighton winger Leandro Trossard after the Belgium international’s recent transfer admission, as per Le Soir

The Hammers were in for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window but their shock enquiry broke down.

With the winger’s contract expiring in the summer of 2023 amid his recent comments, David Moyes must push to sign the experienced Premier League player.

The Brighton forward told Le Soir: “I don’t really think about it. I’m 27 and I let it all happen.

“I’m going to listen to the offers, but I don’t necessarily want to leave. Brighton is also a very good club.”

No brainer

The Irons are desperate for squad depth this summer. They really should have invested more than they have done over the past few seasons which has left David Sullivan and co with a big summer window on their hands.

They are under huge pressure to deliver considering the season West Ham have just had as well as the embarrassing lack of signings in January.

It is vital to continuously improve the players that are at Moyes’ disposal in order to maintain the high levels that have seen the club challenge on all fronts this season, rather successfully at that.

Trossard would certainly be improving on what the Irons already have. He could be played on either wing therefore wouldn’t have an impact on Jarrod Bowen as well as in a more central attacking role.

The Hammers could pay what is likely to be a reasonable fee this summer with his contract nearly over or play the long game and move for him at the end of next season.

Either way, the Brighton man is too good to ignore, especially with him being open to offers.
