Troy Parrott offers come-and-get-me plea to West Ham with what he did for AZ Alkmaar

West Ham could now take steps forward in their approach for Troy Parrott.

Parrott has emerged as a target for West Ham after a stellar start to the season with AZ Alkmaar translated onto the international stage.

As multiple West Ham players booked a spot at the World Cup with their respective countries, the 23-year-old netted a hattrick to send the Republic of Ireland to a play-off clash.

This piqued the interest of various sides, with West Ham set to lose Niclas Fullkrug, it is no surprise they have seemingly entered the running.

The London Stadium club may now look to push forward in their attempts to sign Parrott after his exploits for AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.

Callum Wilson may have scored for West Ham against Bournemouth, but that doesn’t lessen the Hammers’ need for a new striker.

Nuno Espirito Santo requires a number nine who can score regular goals and feature for the full 90 minutes, rather than playing a bit-part role.

Fullkrug and Wilson struggle with that load of minutes, and as a result, it makes total sense to let the latter go and acquire a younger alternative.

Parrott could prove an ideal option after a hugely positive Eredivisie campaign to this point.

Having scored six in seven games for AZ already this season, the Irishman added to his tally with an excellent strike against Heerenveen.

The ball was fired into the forward’s feet, but he took a superb touch before a quick turn and instinctive finish into the far corner.

This sort of strike has been few and far between in East London and could be seen as the perfect opportunity to go and steal Parrott from the Netherlands.

Parrott could end Niclas Fullkrug experiment at West Ham

Considering the true lack of transfer expenditure over the summer in E20, it feels likely that a one-in, one-out policy will be utilised in January.

Should that be the case, the hunt to sign the Republic of Ireland star would likely come at a cost for Fullkrug in claret and blue.

Things just haven’t worked out for the 32-year-old in the Premier League, and that doesn’t look like changing between now and the winter window.

West Ham must do their utmost to move the German on quickly and leave the door open to sign Parrott once the market opens.

His goal for AZ is the perfect come-and-get-me plea as it showcases all the talent that the Hammers faithful are desperate to see.
