Three players West Ham can sign for nothing in 2026 include ‘monster’ Roma star
West Ham were quick to take advantage of the free agent market in the summer transfer window.
Callum Wilson joined West Ham after departing Newcastle in the summer, and appears to be a smart signing should he avoid his previous injury woes.
West Ham also signed Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer, as they hijacked Besiktas’ move for the ex-Southampton defender.
The Hammers’ board will again look towards the future, and West Ham Zone looks at who could join for nothing in 2026.

Yves Bissouma
The Irons’ troubles in midfield have been no secret this summer.
Edson Alvarez departed West Ham for Fenerbahce on loan, and they missed out on a number of targets.
Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa have been brought in to add depth in the middle of the park, but there is still a general feeling that more additions will be needed.
Yves Bissouma was linked to West Ham in 2022, but a move didn’t materialise, and he ended up joining Tottenham.
He has again been linked with a move to the Hammers over the summer.
With the Ivory Coast international not in Thomas Frank’s plans, and the 29-year-old’s contract expiring, a move to the London Stadium makes sense.

Quinten Timber
Alternatively to Bissouma, the Hammers could move for Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber.
Timber was linked to West Ham recently and was shortlisted amongst a number of midfielders Graham Potter was looking at.
- Timber has won five caps for the Netherlands
- He has 138 appearances in his senior career.
- Timber has registered 37 goal contributions in those matches.
James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek have a combined age of 60, so it makes sense for the Irons to move for a young and hungry midfielder.
The Dutchman would bring pace and dynamism to the Hammers’ midfield, something which they desperately lack when Fernandes is out of the team.

Tammy Abraham
Tammy Abraham was linked with West Ham earlier in the year, but the Hammers didn’t make a move for the England International.
With plenty of focus on adding to their midfield, they missed the boat for the striker, who ended up joining Besiktas on loan.
Years | Team | Games played | Goal involvements |
2024-25 | AC Milan | 36 | 13 |
2021-24 | Roma | 120 | 48 |
2019-2021 | Chelsea | 79 | 38 |
2018-19 | Aston Villa | 40 | 29 |
2017-18 | Swansea City | 39 | 12 |
2016-17 | Bristol City | 48 | 29 |
Abraham currently has one year remaining on his contract with Roma, and has already shown that he can score and compete in the Premier League during his time with Chelsea.
Former Roma manager Jose Mourinho loved Abraham during their time together in Italy and called him a “monster”.
