Steidten could land West Ham United upgrade if move sanctioned for European ace
West Ham United have been through it across all competitions this season.
Many expected the Hammers to be one of the teams challenging for the European places but at times, it’s felt like they were scrapping for to avoid a battle for survival.
Of course, things have turned around recently with a couple of results going their way but if Julen Lopetegui wants to improve and add to these solid results, some additions will likely have to be made by Tim Steidten in January.
The Hammers had a rather expensive summer window so any moves likely won’t be able to cost them all that much but a recent report from Turkish outlet H24info (27 December), has shared that West Ham are one of two Premier League teams interested in bringing Hakim Ziyech back to England.
While the Morocco international has spent the last season or so in Turkey with Galatasaray, it still feels like the quality he’d bring to the team would be an instant upgrade to the form that Danny Ings and even Niclas Fullkrug have shown this term.
Why should West Ham United try and sign Hakim Ziyech?
Now that Michail Antonio is ruled out for the foreseeable future, Lopetegui has lost his main number nine and has been left with Ings and Fullkrug as his only options up top.
However, there have been times this season when the Spaniard has experimented with Jarrod Bowen at striker and due to his clinical finishing ability, it’s worked out pretty well.
While his more natural role is on the right wing, if Ziyech was brought in, he’d offer the Hammers another option on the flank and perhaps even in the number 10 role if desired.
This would allow Bowen to be used in a more central position and perhaps even make the most out of his best features.

Bowen’s blistering pace makes him a menace for the opposition defence to try and compete with and, if he can hit the ground running in the number nine role, he could help lead West Ham to the European places by the end of the season.
Of course, a transfer will depend on how much Galatasaray would want for the former Chelsea man but at the age of 31, he’d likely not cost Steidten all that much and would more than fill the void left by Antonio.
