Said Benrahma should leave West Ham in January after another shocker v Olympiacos

Said Benrahma turned in yet another abject performance for West Ham in the 2-1 Europa League defeat to Olympiacos, and should be looking to leave the club in January.

David Moyes sent out a rotated side for the clash, with Benrahma one of the key creative forces in the team, but he failed to make any impact going forward.

Journalist Paul Brown claimed on 28 September that the Algerian international would need to improve his consistency if he wants to remain a part of Moyes’ plans for the future [GIVEMESPORT], but no change has occurred as of yet.

The combination of a lack of playing time, lack of consistency, and some poor displays for the Hammers mean Benrahma could be better off leaving the club in January in an attempt to jumpstart a stalling career.

In the defeat to Olympiacos, Benrahma was given more responsibility to create opportunities, get on the ball and make things happen, with a more central role displayed by his average position which shows he was playing almost alongside Danny Ings in a 4-4-2. [Sofascore]

Despite the boost in trust and involvement given to him by Moyes, the Algerian still failed to impress. He was dragged off after just 58 minutes, during which time he completed just 18 passes, failed to hit the target with either of his two shots and won just two of seven attempted duels at a success rate of 28%.

A change of scenery could be the best route for all parties in this situation, with Benrahma needing to find some form and regular game time, while West Ham can clear his wages off the books and get rid of a player who simply isn’t good enough any more.
