Nuno Espirito Santo has perfect West Ham striker solution that nobody has mentioned yet

West Ham go in search of their first win under Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday when they face Brentford.

Nuno wants to change the mentality at West Ham into a winning one, but faces struggles over his squad already.

West Ham have a striker issue at the moment, with Niclas Fullkrug injured and Callum Wilson not preferred as a starting centre-forward.

Nuno has hinted at Callum Marshall as being a potential stop-gap until the January transfer window, but he needs to realise what’s right in front of him.

Nuno Espirito Santo should test Lucas Paqueta as a false 9 vs Brentford

There’s no hiding away from the fact that West Ham had a horrid start to the season under Graham Potter, but one of the shining lights at E20 has been Lucas Paqueta.

Paqueta is seen as important to Nuno, and the Brazilian has already started in both of the head coach’s first games in charge of the Hammers.

The attacking midfielder seems back to his best in a West Ham shirt, and individually has had a great start to the season.

Paqueta is finding the net more often this season, and playing him in a false 9 position, with Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes all supporting him, could work well against Brentford.

Not only that, but a striker’s role is more than just scoring goals, as this specific position for Paqueta would unlock the best out of players around him.

Paqueta could boost Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen

Nuno wants to focus on fast transitional play that brings the best out in wingers. To do that, Lucas Paqueta is his best option for the time being

The Brazilian has a good on-field relationship with Bowen, and they both work well in the final third.

Summerville has also looked promising in recent games, as Paqueta could be key for getting West Ham over the line on Monday night.
