Nuno Espirito Santo has easy transfer decision to make after unbelievable stat emerges
Nuno Espirito Santo should end his hunt for a new goalkeeper after Alphonse Areola’s recent form.
West Ham have struggled to lock down their goalkeeping spot in recent years.
Mads Hermansen was brought into the London Stadium in the summer, but struggled and was subsequently dropped.
Since then, Areola has remained the number one, with Nuno choosing to stick with the Frenchman since his arrival in the dugout.
Now, the manager should keep faith with the keeper for the foreseeable future.

Alphonse Areola averaging most saves per 90 minutes in the Premier League
Against Bournemouth, Areola had arguably his best game in a West Ham shirt yet, making numerous saves, while also collecting an assist.
Now, according to Fotmob on 25 November, this performance has led to the goalkeeper having the most saves per 90 minutes in the division.
This currently stands at 4.25, an outstanding feat to date.
| Alphonse Areola so far this Premier League season | Per 90 minutes |
| Saves | 4.25 |
| Save percentage | 70.8% |
| Goals prevented | 0.10 |
| Goals conceded | 1.75 |
| Errors leading to goals | 0.13 |
With West Ham currently linked with goalkeepers such as Christos Mandas, surely Nuno has an easy decision to make and stick with Areola for the foreseeable.
Confidence can do wonders for a goalkeeper, and if the manager confirms to the Frenchman that he will be the number one going forward, it could even bring out better performances from Areola.
Therefore, with the keeper in fine form, and clearly making numerous saves per match, surely the Hammers’ money is better spent elsewhere.
Nuno Espirito Santo full of praise for Areola
While West Ham’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth was perhaps disappointing considering the visitors went two goals up, Nuno was quick to pick out the positives from the match.
One was obviously the goalkeeper, who ensured that the Hammers at least came away with something from the clash.
Speaking on Areola, Nuno told BBC Sport on 22 November: “We got a point. He did well and made some good saves.”
