Newcastle could beat West Ham to Kieran Tierney signing as Arsenal are keen to offload
Arsenal are very keen on finding a move for Kieran Tierney this summer, and he could now be set for a move to Newcastle United, who have stepped up their interest amid West Ham rumours, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported on 14 August that Newcastle could move to bring Tierney to the club on loan with an option or obligation to buy, and there is confidence a deal can be reached, although Arsenal would prefer a permanent sale.
West Ham were linked with a move for the Scottish international [Football Transfers, 7 August] with Aaron Cresswell potentially leaving the club in the coming weeks. It was reported that the Hammers would match any bid from another club.

The report in The Telegraph also suggested that there may be a potential stumbling block in Newcastle’s move for Tierney, as both clubs are competing in this season’s Champions League campaign, meaning Arsenal would be strengthening a direct rival and may be reluctant to do so.
This, and the fact that Arsenal would prefer a permanent sale rather than a season-long loan, could keep West Ham in with a chance of beating their Premier League rivals to the deal.
West Ham’s interest in Tierney comes from David Moyes’ desire to strengthen his squad with homegrown players who have Premier League experience, as well as strong leadership skills. Tierney ticks all the boxes in this case, with Premier League experience for Arsenal, and having captained Celtic before his move to North London.

The left-back’s crossing ability would be another boost to Moyes’ style of play, as they look to create opportunities to outwork their opponents and create from all angles, with longer passes and crosses a key element.
It is thought that Tierney would be very keen on a move to Tyneside, while East London is a less appealing option, but if West Ham can move first and present a better deal that suits all parties, they could beat their rivals to the chase.
In other West Ham news, the club have received an offer from Saudi Arabia for one first-team player.
