Michail Antonio edges closer to West Ham United exit as new transfer update emerges

Michail Antonio could be slowly edging towards a West Ham exit after the latest transfer update at the London Stadium.

The 34-year-old has been struggling to make the desired impact for Julen Lopetegui in the absence of Niclas Fullkrug, only grabbing one goal contribution from his six appearances this season.

He was only able to notch six goals and two assists in the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign, spending many games on the sidelines through injury, and the manager may be looking to replace him.

According to FootballTransfers [30 September], the Hammers are keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, who has already scored six goals in five Bundesliga appearances this season.

It is understood that Marmoush remains open to a switch to the Premier League after Nottingham Forest saw a £25million (€30million) rejected during the summer transfer window.

West Ham United to sign Omar Marmoush?

Julen Lopetegui still looks to have a striker problem to solve, even after adding Fullkrug to the squad following his £27million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer [BBC Sport].

The 31-year-old has spent much of his time on the treatment table, having suffered an injury while away on international duty, and fans have not been convinced by his early showings so far.

Antonio has attempted to fill in for the big-money purchase, and even despite grabbing an assist in the 1-1 draw with Brentford on Saturday 28 September, it seems like his time at the London Stadium is coming to a close.

Marmoush looks to be quite the talent, boasting 22 goals from 48 Frankfurt appearances since joining last summer, even performing on the international stage with 32 caps for Egypt.

Lopetegui’s side are likely to face plenty of competition from other Premier League clubs once the January transfer window rolls around, and the club may need to offload a player first.

Both Antonio and Ings had chances to leave the club during the summer, with the Hammers rejecting a £500,000 bid for the former [The Athletic], but they may choose to cash once the January window rolls around.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are interested in signing a La Liga forward with 17 senior goals.
