Mavropanos ‘finished’ at West Ham amid latest transfer development
Konstantinos Mavropanos has had a troubled campaign with West Ham, but his time at the London Stadium may already be coming to an end.
Mavropanos was restricted to an appearance from the bench as West Ham secured a vital 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon (22 February).
Aaron Cresswell was preferred at centre-back, showcasing just how little is thought of the Greek defender and based on various performances this season, it’s hard to disagree.
The West Ham defender has struggled to impress under both Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter while always looking as though he has a mistake in him.
However, it appears he may already be heading for the exit door less than two years after making the move to the London Stadium.

West Ham eye summer deal for Taylor Harwood-Bellis
According to a report from the Sun on Sunday’s print edition (23 February, pg55), West Ham want to sign Taylor Harwood-Bellis in a “rescue” effort as Southampton head toward relegation.
A price tag of £15million has been mooted for the centre-back who was previously linked with a move to West Ham prior to his Saints switch.
Premier League 2024/25 (FotMob) | Appearances | Duels (% won) | Recoveries | Fouls committed |
Konstantinos Mavropanos | 22 | 94 (68.6%) | 55 | 13 |
In what has been nothing short of a dismal campaign for Southampton, Harwood-Bellis has been one of the only positives and if a deal with the Irons were to happen, it’s highly unlikely he would be behind Mavropanos in the pecking order.
With that said, it’s hard to imagine the Greek centre-back being overly keen on having his game time even more restricted and may pursue an exit of his own.

West Ham need to invest this summer
If West Ham were to pursue a deal for Harwood-Bellis, it would certainly be a good move but it would be just one of many that need to be made in order for the Irons to progress.
The current campaign has been a dull one for the Hammers and while they have an abundance of quality in the squad, there are still some key areas that need injecting with fresh quality.
Graham Potter has the foundations of a top-six team, but the lack of depth brings that potential right down, resulting in the way that the current season has panned out.
