Manuel Lanzini reacts as West Ham United exit is confirmed

West Ham United have announced on their official club website that midfielder Manuel Lanzini is set to leave the club this summer.

The Hammers posted a farewell message to the player on Instagram after confirming today that the Argentinian would leave the club following the conclusion of his contract on 30 June.

The caption read “A true Hammers jewel” alongside a photo of Lanzini holding the UEFA Conference League trophy after the final in Prague, which would prove to be the player’s last appearance for the club.

The playmaker has responded to the news with a heartfelt message, “Always in my [heart],” was what the 30-year-old commented underneath the post.

Since his arrival in 2015, Lanzini has made 226 appearances in all competitions for West Ham, scoring on 32 occasions, twice winning the goal of the season award, for his unforgettable equaliser away at Tottenham during the 2020/21 season and a picturesque volley against Crystal Palace during the 2021/22 campaign.

Thank you, Manu!

It appears to be a summer of goodbye at the club with Lanzini’s exit confirmed and Declan Rice also seemingly on his way out. Saying goodbye is never easy, however, the Conference League victory was the perfect way for the midfielder to end his time with the Hammers on a high.

His strike against fierce rivals Tottenham will never be forgotten due to both the quality and dramatic fashion in which the equaliser went in, with the player scoring some other beautiful goals along the way.

His Instagram message clearly shows the club has meant a lot to him, and it will surely be emotional for fans to see him go. He was part of some of the greatest West Ham teams in the modern era and a big factor in the club’s first trophy lift in over four decades years.

However, it is time for the club to move on, and it is fantastic to see a positive relationship end that way.
