Lucas Paqueta will be thrilled to hear Fabrizio Romano update on Lopetegui sack at West Ham United
Lucas Paqueta will be thrilled by the news shared by Fabrizio Romano that Julen Lopetegui is “on the brink” of being sacked by West Ham.
The Hammers have not had the greatest start to life under the Spaniard who took over from David Moyes in the summer.
This has seen the Irons pick up just three Premier League wins this campaign while also falling to disappointing defeats against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
As a result, Romano reported via his Daily Briefing (3 November) that Lopetegui is under heavy scrutiny at the London Stadium with the defeat at the City Ground potentially the final straw.
Lucas Paqueta to be thrilled by Julen Lopetegui news at West Ham
The Brazil international has been involved in controversy of his own but pushing that aside, he has struggled to put together a positive run of form this campaign.
This has seen him contribute with just two goals in nine Premier League starts which is of great frustration to Hammers supporters.
Coming off a season where he scored eight and assisted seven, there were high hopes for the 27-year-old to shine under the ex-Real Madrid boss.
This could be down to the tactical direction utilised by Lopetegui which has seen him operate with a three-at-the-back formation in the most recent clash against Forest.
Paqueta started on the right wing which just doesn’t suit his game as well as if he is afforded the opportunity to roam free in the number ten role.

The willingness to change the formation and tactical approach which hampers his best players, the Brazilian included, will likely result in some players wanting him out.
Someone like Edin Terzic could suit the ex-Lyon star better given that he utilised a 4-2-3-1 at Borussia Dortmund, with Julian Brandt in the number ten role behind current Hammers man Niclas Fullkrug.
In other West Ham news, Howard Webb has admitted to an “error” amid the latest Manchester United controversy.
