Karren Brady made to look stupid as London Stadium quotes resurface at West Ham amid EURO 2028 snub

Karren Brady promised West Ham fans that the London Stadium would be a world-class venue.

Brady has come under pressure at West Ham as supporters continue to vent their frustrations towards the board in East London.

The claret and blue faithful have continued to protest in recent weeks, with a boycott on display as West Ham lost 2-0 to Brentford at the London Stadium.

Brady and David Sullivan could be subject to further protests in the coming months as frustration towards them doesn’t look like going anywhere.

That won’t be helped after the Olympic Park was left out of EURO 2028 plans, leaving Brady with egg on her face based on previous comments.

West Ham snubbed from EURO 2028 fixture announcement

West Ham fans want a new stadium as the lack of affinity towards the London Stadium after just nine years is clear for all to see.

The arena isn’t suitable for creating an atmosphere befitting of the Premier League and has been a constant source of annoyance for the Irons.

A move elsewhere doesn’t look like it’s happening anytime soon, but at least the expectation was that London Stadium should be used for significant events ahead of other grounds.

That isn’t the case.

UEFA have now confirmed the stadiums that will be used across the UK and Ireland for EURO 2028, and the East London arena doesn’t feature.

Hammers supporters have been left somewhat surprised by this news, especially with the likes of Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium also missing out.

That may be more understandable if Brady hadn’t made it clear when West Ham moved into the London Stadium that it would be used for such events due to its standing.

Karren Brady made Champions League final claim for London Stadium in 2016

There was initial excitement over the Olympic Stadium move, even if it was a huge blow to leave the Boleyn Ground.

That has vanished as supporters have realised that the dreams they were sold have turned out to be completely pie in the sky.

The EURO snub is the latest in the long line of problems, especially with how much Brady hyped up the ground swap and what the London Stadium could be used for.

Back in December 2016, she said: “The stadium itself is a designated UEFA category four stadium, the highest possible status a stadium can be granted. It can host a Champions League final, so it is absolutely suitable for football.”

So, UEFA have opted against using the “highest possible” level of ground in favour of using much smaller stadiums like Villa Park…

This is just another stain on Brady’s record, with the London Stadium clearly not being viewed as the elite venue that West Ham fans were sold on.
