Jarrod Bowen licking his lips at West Ham’s clash vs Liverpool for two distinct reasons

Jarrod Bowen will be relishing the opportunity to face Liverpool left-back Milos Kerkez.

West Ham face Liverpool on Sunday at the London Stadium with the Hammers prepared for an upset victory against the defending English champions.

Liverpool are in a bad spot at the moment, and the Irons somehow come into the clash on better form that the Reds.

Nuno Espirito Santo is steering West Ham away from relegation, and his side will be looking to extend a three-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Bowen is West Ham’s most important player, and going up against Kerkez plays into his hand.

Jarrod Bowen will have an easy game against Milos Kerkez

Lucas Paqueta may return to West Ham’s starting lineup after missing the match last time out against Bournemouth due to serving a one-match suspension.

The Brazilian will only add more firepower to Nuno’s attack and may leave more space for Bowen to get at Arne Slot’s backline.

Kerkez has started both of Liverpool’s games since club football resumed after the international break, and he’s been part of the reasoning for the Reds losing on both occasions, conceding seven goals.

Nuno will see this as a huge weakness for Bowen and the Hammers to exploit, and may tell the Englishman to stay on Kerkez all game.

There’s no winning for Slot, as Bowen would also love the prospect of coming up against an ageing Andrew Robertson at left-back.

However, it’s not all good news for West Ham fans, because Bowen may be trying to impress his future employers in this game.

Bowen has a chance to send a message to Liverpool

Liverpool are seriously interested in signing Bowen, with the idea being that he can be Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement.

There have been murmurs that the winger will leave E20 at the end of this season, despite his evident love for the club.

Bowen wants to play in the Champions League, and if we’re being honest, he will get the move that he deserves sooner rather than later.

Now, the 28-year-old may be hoping for the game of his life.

Everything is set up for the forward to have his best 90 minutes of this campaign so far, but it’s not particularly for all the nicest reasons.
