Jarrod Bowen giving Premier League strikers a run for their money as 90-year West Ham United record emerges

West Ham have enjoyed a superb start to the new Premier League season, with the East London club unbeaten after their four matches.

They drew 1-1 at Bournemouth on the opening day of the new campaign, before picking up wins against Chelsea, Brighton and Luton Town.

Key to their fantastic start have been the displays of star winger Jarrod Bowen, who boasts three goals and an assist so far.

Focusing on his goals alone, the English ace has now become the first player to score in each of West Ham’s first three away matches in a top-flight campaign since Vic Watson in 1930/31, as per the official Premier League website (4 September).

Making the feat more impressive and indeed more unexpected is that Bowen had scored just three goals from his previous 54 away appearances in the Premier League before the new season got underway.

Goals at Bournemouth, Brighton and Luton place the winger well up in the scoring standings, with only Erling Haaland (six), Evan Ferguson and Bryan Mbeumo (both four) ahead of the Hammers star, as per BBC Sport.

Of course things are going to get harder for David Moyes and his talented squad, who will soon have to manage their Premier League and Europa League duties.

But if anyone is ready to hit the ground running in Europe, it is Bowen, who can rely on both his start to the new season and indeed his heroics in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina in June.

For now, however, West Ham supporters will be delighted with their start, and Bowen will be equally thrilled with his.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have a new hero as stunning Premier League statistics have emerged after the recent win against Luton.
