Jarrod Bowen ‘confidential’ contract update could spell bad news for West Ham United

Jarrod Bowen is likely to be hot property in the upcoming transfer window, and the likelihood of the attacker remaining a West Ham United player remains unclear.

Bowen, 26, burst into life over the closing months of the 2022/23 Premier League season, netting six goals and providing eight assists since the turn of the year.

In an otherwise disappointing Hammers league campaign under David Moyes, Bowen has stood up and made himself a highly sought-after prospect this summer.

West Ham

The Englishman’s contract at the London Stadium currently expires in June 2025, and alongside Declan Rice, remains one of the club’s most lucrative assets.

On the possibility of Bowen signing a new contract at the London Stadium, Claret and Hugh wrote: “It should be pointed out that Claret & Hugh approached the club asking for clarification of any Bowen contract talks but were informed it was ‘confidential’.

“What we do know, however, is that the club entered into negotiations with Bowen over a new deal in 2022.”

The fact that West Ham entered contract negotiations in 2022, and no news has yet surfaced on an extension to Bowen’s stay at the London Stadium doesn’t paint the best picture ahead of the summer window.

Newcastle are already reportedly interested in signing the former Hull City winger, with Eddie Howe a long-term admirer, according to Alex Crook (6 April).

West Ham

If the Magpies were to come knocking for Bowen’s services and throw the prospect of Champions League football on the table, it could be hard to resist for both player and club.

However, if West Ham United managed to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract in East London, his value will skyrocket and subsequently leave the club in a far more powerful situation when negotiating with any of the Premier League big boys.

Hopefully, Bowen will be blowing bubbles next season, and if so, the club must do all in their power to get him to put pen to paper in a new deal.
