Issa Diop could remain at West Ham United as Fulham look for options elsewhere

Issa Diop could remain at West Ham this summer, with Fulham reportedly looking for options elsewhere.

The French defender has been linked with a move away from the club, with ExWHUemployee reporting on 28 July that he could be allowed to leave if Fulham come up with a £20m offer.

There were other clubs that showed interest in Diop, but none of them are likely to match West Ham’s valuation.

Fulham was the only realistic option for Diop, although there are suggestions that David Moyes is unlikely to let him go following the injury to Nayef Aguerd.

Fulham struggled to match the asking price set by West Ham and they have now turned their attention elsewhere.

According to Alan Nixon, who wrote on his Patreon (31 July), the Cottagers want to sign Jannik Vestergaard from Leicester City to strengthen their defence.

Vestergaard is available in the market, as the Foxes look to shake up their squad.

Fulham are hoping to do a loan deal but Leicester will demand a fee as much as £12 million for the giant defender. Nixon suggests that while Diop remains an option, the club move for the former Southampton defender.

With the new season starting in a week, unless there’s a very tempting offer on the table, Diop is unlikely to leave.

The 25-year-old should look to work hard in training and impress his manager. He must ditch exit plans, and show Moyes that he can still be a big part of his long-term plans at the club.
