In what could be a whirlwind of summer activity at West Ham United, one name that could now appeal to David Moyes is Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils outcast has endured a slow decline in playing minutes since the arrival of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford as manager, and he now looks destined for a summer exit if the right offer is made.

ESPN reported on 8 June that the Hammers and Spurs had been offered the chance to sign the England international after the former had made an enquiry into his services in the winter window.

And the Daily Mail has now shared that Manchester United would be willing to listen to an offer of £40million this summer amid Ten Hag’s plans for a squad overhaul, but he wouldn’t be forced out if a suitable deal isn’t brokered.

With Declan Rice likely to reap a fee in the region of £100million over the coming weeks, Moyes has money to spend this summer, and money that would be well used signing up Maguire to his ranks.

Although the defender has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the last couple of seasons due to a number of high-profile mistakes, there is no doubting his sky-high ceiling.

Having spent a number of seasons in the Premier League, as well as featuring prominently under Gareth Southgate for England, the former Leicester City player has a wealth of experience to call upon at the highest level.

His invaluable leadership skills would also be a huge coup for the Hammers if he were to seal a transfer.

Ever since the Hammers sold Craig Dawson in the January window, the first team have looked a little short-staffed in the heart of defence. Although both Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd remain brilliant options to call upon, beyond that, the lack of depth is glaring.

West Ham United have been told the price to pay for Maguire, and it is now over to the club to dig deep and fork out for Maguire.
