Door blown wide open for West Ham to sign Joe Worrall after big development

The door has been blown wide open for West Ham to complete the signing of defender Joe Worrall with the latest developments from Nottingham Forest.

David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his ranks ahead of next season, particularly in centre-back after the last campaign’s crisis.

Serious injuries to all of the Hammers’ centre-backs bar Craig Dawson – who missed out on occasions due to suspension – left the Irons very stretched in defence at times.

According to club insiders Claret and Hugh, the Irons are set to pip Everton to the 25-year-old’s signature in the summer transfer market.

The Reds’ boss Steve Cooper admitted that there will be no new contract negotiations for Worrall whose contract expires in 2024.

A potential move for the Englishman has been blown wide open with Nottingham Forest ramping up their interest in key Rangers ace, Connor Goldson with his contract up at the end of the season, as per Scottish Sun.

Perfect.

It looks as if Forest are preparing for the departure of Worrall ahead of next season by bolstering their centre-back options.

The fact he hasn’t signed a new contract at the club tells you his exit is inevitable and hopefully, the London Stadium is his next destination.

He has been absolutely crucial to the City Ground outfit’s promotion to the Premier League and he certainly has what it takes to shine in the topflight.

His brilliant displays against a host of elite sides such as Liverpool and Arsenal during last season’s impressive FA Cup run has proven that.

Worrall can slot right into the starting XI next season if the West Ham gets the deal over the line soon enough for him to get a proper pre-season under his belt.

The former Rangers man is a very reliable player having played 39 of Forest’s 46 Championship games as well as their playoff clashes which is something Moyes can certainly use after the injury crisis his centre-backs fell under in the last term.
