David Moyes with delusional West Ham United stance on Danny Ings after recent comments

West Ham fans will be glad to see the back of Danny Ings once he departs the club as he proved his inability once again against Bristol City in the FA Cup.

The 31-year-old was a 75th-minute during the Hammers’ 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Sunday, failing to make the desired impact versus the Championship outfit, with a replay now needed to separate the pair.

Ings has been linked with a move away from London Stadium, most recently targeted by Wolves, as per The Telegraph, and West Ham fans must be counting down the days until the striker leaves.

However, David Moyes was clearly watching a different game on Sunday once Ings was brought on, saying in a post-match interview: “Danny was probably the best player when he came on. I’d talk about his performance rather than anything else.”

Really? In the dying embers of the FA Cup fixture, Ings missed a golden opportunity to steal victory for the Hammers but stabbed his effort into the side netting, with half of London Stadium believing he had scored. Because, well, a striker with his experience should be doing better.

He missed the chance to be a hero. Ings also only managed a successful pass rate of 67 per cent, lost 50 per cent of his ground duels and won just 20 per cent of his aerial battles. [FotMob]

It may have only been a short 15-minute cameo, with limited opportunity to change his future at the club, but he did more damage than good with the display.

The former Southampton man is yet to register a goal contribution this campaign, now being replaced by 19-year-old Divin Mubama. The academy graduate was chosen to replace the injured Lucas Paqueta, preferred to the veteran striker.

Moyes’ post-match comments are either an attempt to shield his player from deserved criticism or he, well and truly, has his head wedged in the sand.

In other West Ham news, Antonio has made an “honest” admission on the club’s January transfer plans.
