David Moyes to blame for Mubama contract twist as West Ham United frustrations pile up
One of the brightest prospects coming through the academy at West Ham, Divin Mubama, has turned down a new contract at the club, according to The Athletic, and David Moyes has got to take the blame.
While the report [30 October] shared that the club remain hopeful he may change his mind and decide to stay with negotiations continuing, it is hard to envision the striker wanting to stay under Moyes’ guidance.
The boss has completely neglected Mubama so far this season despite the Hammers’ issues up front, and he could now leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.

This has become the latest in a line of frustrating decisions under Moyes, after a report by Claret & Hugh on 30 October claimed the club are becoming fed up with the manager and he is edging closer to facing the sack at the London Stadium.
Mubama is yet to feature for West Ham in the Premier League this season and was left out of the squad against Everton. His only competitive minutes so far this season have come in a 34-minute cameo in the League Cup win against Lincoln, and he was given just one minute against Freiburg in the Europa League. For a 19-year-old striker who scored his first competitive goal for the club last season, the lack of attacking quality at the club should have represented the ideal opportunity to make a name for himself, but Moyes’ reluctance to experiment with young players has proved frustrating.

It is no secret that the Hammers spent a large portion of the summer transfer window chasing a new forward after Gianluca Scamacca’s departure, but their failure to land one should have provided Mubama with his chance.
The boss has preferred the experience of Danny Ings, despite his terrible displays in claret and blue, adding a further source of frustration for Mubama.
If Moyes continues to ignore the brightest prospect coming out of the Academy of Football, at a club that prides itself on the success of their academy stars, it will do no favours to the esteem in which he is currently held by Hammers fans.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are looking to sign a former Chelsea forward.
