David Moyes must consider giving Maxwel Cornet more minutes after impressive start for West Ham
West Ham United were extremely active in the recently concluded transfer window where they made as many as eight first-team signings.
Three of those signings — midfielder Lucas Paqueta, striker Gianluca Scamacca and centre-back Nayef Aguerd — cost more than £30 million each, thus taking the overall spending of the club to more than £140 million [Football Transfers].
Out of all those signings, one player has really started to leave his mark thus far despite having very limited opportunities at the London Stadium and that is winger Maxwel Cornet.

The 25-year-old joined the Irons from Championship outfit Burnley in a deal worth £17.5 million [Sky Sports].
Deserving
West Ham entered the campaign hoping to do better than they did in the previous campaign where they finished in the seventh position on the league table and played in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League where they lost to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, the Hammers had a turbulent start to their campaign where they have only managed to secure four points from the first six matches in the league campaign.
In these testing times, manager David Moyes must be looking for positives that can lift the morale of the whole squad and that positive thing from West Ham could be Cornet.

The Ivory Coast international has only played 204 minutes for the club ever since moving there earlier in the summer and has already scored twice whereas he could’ve had a third if VAR didn’t rule his goal for an alleged foul of Jarrod Bowen on Édouard Mendy [Transfermarkt].
Interestingly, if Cornet’s goal would’ve been allowed against Chelsea, he would have had a goal in the Premier League despite playing just 24 minutes.
Those numbers are extremely impressive for someone who has not been featured regularly. On top of that, his work rate has never been questioned, thus making his case even stronger to start in the upcoming matches.
With this weekend’s fixtures postponed to pay respect to Queen Elizabeth II, it is time for Moyes to consider giving more minutes to a deserving player like Cornet who can become more than just an option for the Irons this season.
