David Moyes has no excuses at West Ham United as ‘most fortunate’ Sky Sports statistics emerge

West Ham United have endured another roller-coaster Premier League campaign under veteran manager David Moyes.

A strong start by the East London club was followed by a blip, with the Hammers now struggling to find any real consistency.

They are, however, sitting pretty in eighth place on 28 points, just one behind Manchester United and two behind Newcastle United.

And while they are doing their utmost to successfully compete in all competitions, the latest injury figures suggest that Moyes can have no excuses regarding any Premier League failures this season.

As per Sky Sports (19 December), West Ham have lost only 158 days due to injuries since the season started, with that figure the lowest of all 20 Premier League clubs.

For context, it is almost a fifth of Brentford’s tally of 725, with Thomas Frank’s side unfortunately sitting top of the pile.

The positive figures for Moyes don’t stop there, however, with the Hammers again at the very bottom of the table when it comes to the number of players missing one or more games through injury.

Sky Sports noted that West Ham are among the “most fortunate” to date with just eight, with Manchester United topping the charts with 22.

The publication added that Moyes is only without Michail Antonio at this moment in time, although the squad has been hit with a bug as they prepare to take on Liverpool in the League Cup.

The Reds welcome the Hammers to Anfield on Wednesday (20 December) for a quarter-final encounter under the lights.

In other West Ham news, Daniel Sturridge and Roy Keane were in agreement over an incident in the recent match against Wolves, with a “WWE” verdict shared.
