Darren Bent is deluded after what he said about West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen has been one of the rare positives for West Ham in recent years.

West Ham supporters are sick of the ownership, after constant issues and managerial changes following the dismissal of David Moyes.

However, Bowen has been a shining light, stepping up for the Irons despite chaos and several managers with different tactical ideas.

Bowen proved himself for England away from West Ham with a fine display off the bench in the 5-0 win over Latvia on 14 October.

Jarrod Bowen’s place within England squad questioned

West Ham ace Bowen is a backup option for England at the moment, with Bukayo Saka the preferred option on the right-hand side.

Darren Bent and Andy Goldstein were debating who is better out of Bowen and Arsenal star Noni Madueke for that role.

The latter was on the side of the Hammers star, but Bent was steadfast in his ridiculous view that the Gunners ace was the better player.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 16 October, he said: “Yes [Madueke is better]. Is one in 19 good enough for Bowen for England?”

He later doubled down on the claim after Goldstein retorted that Madueke was not better, saying: “For England, he has been better.”

Bent is deluded with his latest Bowen and West Ham claim

Bowen has one goal and one assist in 19 matches for the national team, that is the cold, hard, facts.

However, as Goldstein tried to get across to his colleague, it is important to provide context to those stats.

The Hammers ace has only started six times for the Three Lions, which means that is hard to find any kind of rhythm.

The quality of a player cannot simply be judged by their contributions for the national team, and if we look at club form, then it is clear that Bowen is miles better than Madueke.

Bowen has proven himself as a star in the Premier League, with 59 goals and 43 assists in 207 top-flight games, while Madueke only has 13 goals and seven assists in 72 games in the division.

Bent is simply deluded; he surely cannot seriously believe that the Gunners’ ace is the better player and must be having a laugh.
