Chelsea deal for Aubameyang leaves door open for ambitious West Ham to make Armando Broja move

West Ham have been making waves in the transfer market this week and the door may be open for them to make another move.

Spanish Jijantes journalist Gerard Romero has claimed via his Twitch channel this week that Chelsea are close to signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.

An Aubameyang switch to Stamford Bridge now leaves the door open for West Ham to make a move for Chelsea forward Armando Broja, who’s been linked with a move to the London Stadium this summer [The Guardian].

With zero goals in three Premier League games, there is a dire need for a striker to come in and bag goals in East London.

Match made in heaven

Broja undoubtedly suits West Ham’s style of play, an aggressive forward, the 20-year-old makes endless runs into the channels; something David Moyes loves.

And although the club have just signed striker Gianluca Scamacca, injury-prone Michail Antonio is their only other forward option.

Moyes’s team aren’t quite at crisis point yet, but their attacking play has become predictable and rusty and there definitely needs to be some changes made.

A proven Premier League striker wouldn’t go amiss; Broja can provide this.

The 20-year-old showed his class for Southampton during a loan spell at Saint Mary’s; scoring 9 goals in all competitions during the 2021/2022 campaign.

Broja is also a graduate of Chelsea’s renowned academy, joining the club from Tottenham in 2009; a pedigree that usually promises exciting things to come.

The Hammers have already made a move for Broja earlier in the window, however, a bid of £30m plus add-ons was rejected by Chelsea. [The Guardian].

This shouldn’t put them off in their pursuit of the Albanian, Chelsea will likely be more forthcoming in negotiations now they have nearly sealed a deal for Aubameyang.
