Arne Slot’s hypocrisy exposed after what happened in West Ham loss to Liverpool
Arne Slot has exposed himself as a hypocrite after his Liverpool side beat West Ham 5-2 on Saturday.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side gave it a good go, but it was not enough as they were beaten comfortably at Anfield on 28 February.
Tomas Soucek and Taty Castellanos scored for West Ham, but they ultimately left with no points as the Reds’ firepower proved too much.
Now, the Dutch manager has spoken about the Premier League in general, but his point will have London Stadium supporters up in arms.

What did Slot say after Liverpool beat West Ham?
Slot was asked about the style of football in the Premier League lately, and he admitted that he did not like the focus on set-pieces.
Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Wolves on 3 March, he said: ”You have to accept it, I think it’s mainly here in the Premier League.
“If I watch other leagues, I don’t think there’s so much emphasis on set-pieces.
“If I watch an Eredivisie game, which I still do, I see goals being disallowed and fouls on goalkeepers being given and I think ‘wow, that’s a big difference’.
“Here, you can almost hit a goalkeeper in his face, and the referee still says ‘just go on’.
“Do I like it? My football heart doesn’t like it. If you ask me about football, I think about the Barcelona team from 10, 15 years ago, every Sunday evening, you were hoping they would play.
“Now, most of the games I see in the Premier League are not a joy to watch for me, but it’s always interesting because it’s so competitive.”
Why is Slot a hypocrite after West Ham scenes?
Slot is a hypocrite because he was moaning about set-pieces when three of his side’s goals against the Irons came from those situations.
The opening goal from Hugo Ekitike was a great finish from the Frenchman, but it came from the fallout after a corner.
Virgil van Dijk headed home their second from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner, and their third, through Alexis Mac Allister was also the result of the same situation.
In fact, Slot’s side have scored the most goals from non-penalty set pieces in the division in 2026, which makes his point a moot one.
How can the Reds manager complain about set-pieces when his side are clearly one of the teams that benefits from them the most in the top-flight.
His hypocrisy is clear to see, and it does not reflect well on the Premier League title-winning boss at all after what his side did against the Hammers, and how they relied on the situations.
The East London side will have to move on quickly from a gutting defeat on Merseyside, with their focus firmly on the relegation battle, but the Dutchman’s comments will leave a sour taste in supporters’ mouths.
The side must now concern itself with the league matches with Fulham and Manchester City, rather than what Slot said, and gain some points to get themselves out of the drop zone.
