Wolves transfer twist emerges on striker Yuri Alberto who nearly joined West Ham United

Wolves have failed in their pursuit to sign striker Yuri Alberto who nearly joined West Ham from Corinthians in the summer, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on 1 February that the offer presented by Wolves would be around £18million to the Brazilian club, but they did not accept it.

Now, they are unlikely to be able to sign the Brazil international in January.

Fortunate dodge?

While the Brazilian striker has shown promise in his home country, his limited experience outside of his home country and lacklustre track record in European football raise doubts about his ability to adapt to the rigorous demands of the Premier League.

He would also have cost £18million so the finances were not right and it’s not like David Moyes is prioritising a striker in January.

They will need a striker in the summer but the Brazilian should not be the option they look at.

They tried to make Gianluca Scamacca work and he arrived with an impressive record in Italy but even that move did not work.

Thus, the priority will be to sign someone capable of adapting to the Premier League and cope with Moyes’ physical demands and be someone who can thrive on the counter attack rather than being accustomed to a possession heavy system as the top clubs usually have.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes is now concerned over the temperament of a first-team regular and may decide to axe him after a recent transfer development.
