Wolves poised to table transfer bid for West Ham United defender Craig Dawson

Wolves are reportedly keen on reviving their interest in West Ham defender Craig Dawson in the January transfer window.

According to the Telegraph [10 January], Julen Lopetegui’s side are poised to table an offer for the English centre-back this month.

They were in negotiations with the Hammers over signing Dawson in the summer as well but that did not materialise as West Ham failed to sign a replacement in time.

Dawson is 32 and does not have too many years left in his legs at the top level.

If West Ham are getting a chance to sell him then by all means they must consider the options and begin talks over his sale.

He has served the club well but there are three defenders at least ahead of him in the pecking order and if David Moyes wants to buy a new midfielder in January, he will need funds for it.

There will be no hard feelings if Dawson himself tells the board that he feels his time is up at the club.

There’s a good chance that he will get regular game time at Molineux so it’s understandable why he would want to make that move.

Aston Villa were also looking to sign him over the summer but ended up with Jan Bednarek and they’re unlikely to re-enter the race for Dawson.

Barring Wolves, no other club seems to be interested in the West Ham defender thus far but things can change very quickly during transfer windows, especially in January.
