Winner named in West Ham United, Tottenham and Lazio race to sign Daichi Kamada

West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur both held talks with the agents of Daichi Kamada in July once his Eintracht Frankfurt contract expired, according to 90 Min.

The English media outlet reported on Thursday (3 August) that Lazio have won the race and are closing in on signing the Japan international.

The 26-year-old attacker was at the World Cup and appeared to be on the cusp of signing for AC Milan, before they backed out of the deal.

Missed chance?

The Hammers’ window has been disastrous as the number of players they’ve tried to sign is extremely high with an abysmal success rate.

Kamada is an exceptionally talented player who would’ve been a valuable asset to David Moyes’ side due to his ability of playing in multiple attacking positions.

He’s also got the experience of being one of the most important players in his team and would be a valuable presence inside the dressing room as well.

Borussia Dortmund were also considering signing him and this does seem to be a real coup for Lazio.

Hammers fans will be hoping that the reason the club chose not to sign Kamada is because they have better options lined up.

Failure to sign Carlos Borges is another huge blow and West Ham have gone from cup winners to laughing stocks in no time.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
