Winner named in West Ham United, Fulham and AC Milan race to sign Yunus Musah
The Athletic have named the winner in the race between West Ham, Fulham and AC Milan to sign Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah.
The reliable news outlet report [28 July] that the Hammers have lost out to the Italian side who are set to sign the United States central midfielder.
The 20-year-old made it clear he wants to join Milan and is now set to complete a £17million move after an impressive campaign that saw him shine at the World Cup in Qatar.

Would’ve been good
It’s evident that the Hammers need two quality central midfielders this summer and one of them very well could’ve been Musah.
His performances at the World Cup, despite at such a young age, show that he was ready to step into the West Ham playing XI.
However, it seems like his intention was to join Milan and thus a move to the London Stadium may never have been on the cards for him.

It remains to be seen how he fares in Italy as they’ve snapped up a potentially world class player at a very decent fee.
There must be other options the Hammers have in mind but it would’ve been good to get someone like Musah who’s been in London before at Arsenal’s academy.
There have been links to Joao Palhinha and Conor Gallagher, among others, and it’s high time they start making new signings.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
