Winner named in West Ham United and Brighton race to sign Manchester City starlet Carlos Borges
Manchester City starlet Carlos Borges is expected to snub Brighton in order to join West Ham this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
The London-based media outlet [20 July] claimed that the 19-year-old Portuguese winger is in advanced talks over a move to the London Stadium.
He’s understood to cost £14million and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects of any English youth academy.

Coup?
Brighton, in the past few years, have been viewed as the ideal model for how clubs should be run without spending too much money.
Their youth and first team recruitment has been spot on and they’ve managed to develop so many players that get sold for big valuations.
For West Ham to sign Borges ahead of him certainly is a big deal and it’s evident that they’ve really had an impact on the 19-year-old.

Whether they promised more money or a quicker route to the first team or if he was just sold by the promise of getting this team to the next level, they seem to have successfully convinced him.
The fee may be steep for someone who’s not played senior football but the future does seem to be bright for the teenager.
Whether or not he’s thrown straight into first-team training remains to be seen, but if they’re shelling out that kind of money, he perhaps should be ready to make his senior bow.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
