WHZ View: West Ham must sign £8.5m-rated Morten Thorsby
Sampdoria’s midfield sensation Morten Thorsby, who has been linked to West Ham, could be on the move for £8.5 million this summer.
According to Calciomercato, Napoli are in negotiations with the Sampdoria ace and are looking to find a resolution soon.
However, the Hammers have been previously linked with the 25-year-old [ Gazzetta dello Sport (June 1st, page 14), and could re-enter the race now that his valuation has been made clear.

Bargain buy
We’re not sure whether Alex Kral will join or not this summer, and on the off chance he doesn’t, Thorsby will be an incredible bargain option we could consider buying.
He would offer solid competition to Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek and in certain games when David Moyes wants to play three men in midfield, he could throw in the Norwegian in there as well.
Much like Soucek, Thorsby offers a towering midfield presence who’s technical with the ball at his feet, but can also prove to be an aerial threat during set pieces.
He may not be scoring as many goals as the Czech international, but he makes up for it on the defensive end, winning 2.3 tackles per 90 minutes. [WhoScored]

Furthermore, he’s impressed in a variety of roles in the Serie A.
He’s deputised at right-back, on the left and in a more defensively minded midfield role, akin to Rice.
Thorsby could provide Moyes with plenty of options ahead of a season in which our squad could be stretched thin due to Europa League commitments.
It’s no secret that this past season we were short on midfield options, and he would go a long way in solving that problem for us.
