WHZ View: Turning point of season for West Ham as deadline approaches

The next few days could be the biggest turning point of the season for West Ham as the transfer deadline approaches.

The Hammers are yet to sign a player this month, and David Moyes needs to bolster the squad after back to back Premier League defeats.

If not now…then when?

West Ham

West Ham are aiming for a top-four finish. Last season, they missed it out on the Champions League qualification but this time failure to do so would bring ramifications.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United are vying for the fourth spot, while Wolves are also threatening to get into there.

West Ham must back Moyes with funds to bring in players and freshen up the squad. The Hammers have done smart business in January before signing players like Jesse Lingard (loan), Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham

If West Ham fail to break into the top four after promising so much in the first half of the season, Moyes could struggle to hold on to his star players like Bowen, Declan Rice or Pablo Fornals.

There’s money available. A new shareholder is on board and Moyes has stated many times this month he needs players.

With only a week remaining on the window to close down, the next few days could be a big turning point in West Ham’s season.

Signing a striker is necessary. Signing a defender is necessary. Adding a midfielder is necessary. The club must act now.
