What the Brazilian press said about West Ham star Lucas Paqueta after impact vs Chile

West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta caught the eye as Brazil secured victory against Chile on Thursday.

Paqueta has been central to legal news at West Ham, with the potential of a new battle against the FA in the pipeline.

This saw the FA release a document on Paqueta at West Ham, something which has prompted the attacking midfielder to potentially sue the association.

After Paqueta saw a move from West Ham to Manchester City scuppered, he could sue for damages to both his reputation and finances after his innocent verdict.

With that being said, it is clear that Paqueta is focusing on his football, showcasing his talents for Brazil on the international stage on 4 September.

Lucas Paqueta scores for Brazil against Chile

In what has been a difficult few years for the 28-year-old, it finally looks as if there is light at the end of the tunnel for his career prospects.

This began with Paqueta scoring for West Ham against Nottingham Forest as Graham Potter and Co. secured the first win of the campaign.

It seems as if the number 10s form has continued on the global stage after coming off the bench in the 71st minute for Brazil against Chile.

This saw the former Lyon get on the scoresheet just a minute after coming on for Selecao, marking his return to the national side with a bang.

Local outlet Ge marked this with a seven rating, adding: “He saw his star shine after almost a year of waiting to return to play for the national team.

“It took him 20 seconds to touch the ball and start the play that resulted in his goal after 50 seconds on the field.”

This was echoed by CNN Brasil, who described his performance as “redemption” after a 10-month investigation at the London Stadium.

Lucas Paqueta must maintain form at West Ham

There is no getting away from the frustration that the number 10 has caused in recent months due to his lack of performance level.

It isn’t truly his fault due to the case surrounding him, but now that the Hammers will hope he can showcase his best form regularly in E20.

After netting against Forest, there was hope of him building on that, and he certainly did against Chile, piquing the interest of the Irons’ faithful.

Now they will wait to see how Paqueta gets on in claret and blue, and for Brazil with clashes against Bolivia and Tottenham.
