West Ham’s new seats and stewards set to be paid for by the taxpayer
West Ham could be about to make some major savings on the cost of running the London Stadium as taxpayers are set to pay the £35million required to have new seats and pay matchday stewards, according to the Telegraph.
The report states that the £20million that it will cost for West Ham to pay their stewards this season will be covered by taxpayers. Then the Exchequer will cover the costs required to put some new seats into the London Stadium.
This is essentially a huge cash boost for the Hammers, who now have £35million extra that they wouldn’t have had normally, which could be spent on David Moyes’ squad.

Will West Ham fans see this money being spent?
It is hard to know what the Irons will do with this extra money that they don’t have to spend.
You would think Hammers fans would love to see it invested in the squad so that Moyes can build on last season’s fantastic sixth-place finish.
However, given David Gold and David Sullivan’s reputation for taking money out of the club whenever they can, it would not be a surprise if Moyes saw none of this cash during this transfer window [Football.London].

The sensible thing for West Ham to do would be to use this money to improve the playing squad and allow West Ham to compete on multiple fronts.
The Hammers start their Premier League campaign in just over a month, and they still only have one striker.
Just think what an extra £35m could do for West Ham, it could be a total game-changer but will Gold, and Sullivan release that money?
