West Ham youngster Emmanuel Longelo could be handed Premier League soon

West Ham sensation Emmanuel Longelo was reportedly in the frame to feature and make his Premier League debut v Norwich on Saturday.

According to Claret and Hugh, the “impressive” left-back could feature for the Hammers should Aaron Cresswell still be deemed unfit.

David Moyes admitted that he was touch and go before the Arsenal clash, and his absence could see Longelo get a rare opportunity to prove his worth.

With the game now postponed, he may have to wait a bit to make his league bow.

Give him a chance

Arthur Masuaku is the other left-back Moyes has at his disposal but there are doubts as to whether or not he’s good enough defensively.

Cresswell, who’s undoubtedly the better of the two, is on the wrong side of 30 and will be needing replacing soon.

If Longelo can prove that he’s good enough and like Ben Johnson can creep his way up to being a regular in the first team, then it would be beneficial for the Hammers.

They will not have to shell out for a specialist left-back who’s not likely to come on the cheap.

A good way to introduce him to the Premier League would be against teams like Norwich where the Hammers will have a lot of possession and will be expected to win the game.

It will take the pressure off the youngster too and give him the confidence he needs to thrive.
