Leanne Kiernan has joined Liverpool after she was released by West Ham United last month.
The Republic of Ireland international striker spent three years with the Hammers and has reunited with Liverpool manager Matt Beard who brought her to West Ham.
Kiernan did not get her contract renewed, and while most fans would be heartbroken to see the versatile forward join fellow Women’s Super League rivals, West Ham Women expert Michelle Irons reckons it was the best for both parties.

“I feel indifferent about this as I really loved Leanne. She came over to us as an unknown and quickly become a fan favourite,” Michelle told West Ham Zone.
“Some of her goals for us were pivotal in her first season and she was a lovely player to talk to when the game finished really humble and friendly.
“However she had a bit of a stop-start season with us last year as she was suffering with an injury and did not really make a contribution – that’s obviously a real shame because it wasn’t her fault.
“I think overall it was the right decision to release her at the end of the season which was a sad time for us fans as she is a very likeable character.
“This move to Liverpool couldn’t have gone better for her as she’s being reunited with Matt Beard and she will score goals for fun in the WSL.
“She will always be liked by us at West Ham and I hope she does well for the Reds!
“In terms of her replacement, we need a player that is quick and willing to give it all – just like Leanne.”
Great move
The former Shelbourne forward ended her time with us with three goals in 19 WSL games, with injuries preventing her from fulfilling her potential.

Kiernan played on the wing under Beard and Olli Harder at West Ham, but could get the chance to play as a striker for Liverpool as she does for country.
She is the first signing of the summer window for LFC Women and we can only wish her all the very best going forward.
In other West Ham Women news, Michelle Irons is baffled by the news of Jack Sullivan’s exit.
