West Ham will only consider selling Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City for £85m – Sky Sports News

Negotiations are continuing between Manchester City and West Ham for the signing of midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster reported online in their transfer blog (16 August, 10:45 am) that David Moyes’ side are expecting an improved offer from the Premier League champions for their Brazil international star.

And it is believed that the Hammers will only begin to consider fees in the region of £85million for the 25-year-old.

This would add to the enormous transfer kitty the club already have following the sales of Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca.

Tempting

As much as supporters at the London Stadium would like to see Paqueta line up in claret and blue again this season, if an offer of £85million does come in, that would be very tough to turn down.

West Ham’s board probably cannot believe their luck this summer after selling an academy graduate for more than £100million, recouping most of what they paid for Scamacca after his poor debut season in England, and now could potentially be offered almost £30million more than what they paid for Paqueta just last summer.

An injury to Kevin De Bruyne, which could rule the Belgian international out for months, will have accelerated the Citizens’ need to bring in an attacking midfield reinforcement and would not have helped their position as the buying club.

If Pep Guardiola’s side does match the fee that Moyes’ men are after, Paqueta’s exit could become simply a matter of when not if.

In other West Ham news, a player could have his Chelsea medical today in order to be available against the Hammers in their upcoming fixture.
