West Ham will hold talks over Tomas Soucek contract at the end of the season

West Ham are currently not holding any talks over a contract extension with midfielder Tomas Soucek.

According to journalist Dean Jones, both the parties will hold talks at the end of the season, and as of now, talks have been put on hold.

Soucek has been a key player since joining the Hammers from Slavia Prague, but it seems the Londoners are struggling to reach an agreement over a new deal for him.

“The talks have been put on hold because they couldn’t get close to agreeing a deal,” said Jones to GiveMeSport.

“Both parties decided that they could just ease off for a moment and then they’ll go back in for a new set of talks towards the end of the season.”

The 27-year-old midfielder has made 29 starts in the Premier League this season, scoring four goals.

He has also featured seven times in the Europa League and has played in domestic cup games as well.

The Czech Republic skipper has been an engine in midfield alongside Declan Rice for the Hammers, but unlike last season, he hasn’t been prolific in terms of scoring.

As of now, it seems talks of a contract extension have been put on hold, but there remains a willingness from both parties to reach a common ground.

West Ham should not panic as Soucek has a contract at the club till 2024. Even if potential suitors come up with an offer for him, the Hammers are in a driving seat to ask a big money for him.

Soucek is happy at the London club and he is vital to Moyes’ system. He played a key role last season, scoring 10 times.

In other West Ham news, another of the goalkeeper’s union at the club has been fined for a driving offence.
