West Ham United want to sign Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo

West Ham United and Burnley are interested in Strasbourg’s Senegalese striker Habib Diallo, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

Nixon reports on his personal Patreon (4 June) that the Hammers have been tracking Diallo as they target another forward.

It’s understood Vincent Kompany went to watch the Ligue 1 forward as he looks to bolster Burnley’s attack on their return to the top flight.

West Ham

Strasbourg could command a fee as high as £20million for the 27-year-old, who has 20 goals to his name this season. Both Premier League clubs could move if the price is right.

Needed

Another striker is required at the London Stadium. There’s some uncertainty over Michail Antonio’s long-term future. The 33-year-old has been a great servant but is now entering the latter stages of his career. Gianluca Scamacca has been extremely disappointing after completing his move from Sassuolo last summer.

The Italian needs competition. It’s fair to say Diallo is an unknown quantity. He’s scored goals in Ligue 1, but that has to be taken with a pinch of salt. The Premier League is an extremely tough environment to adjust to and there’s no guarantees the 27-year-old would be an instant hit.

West Ham

Another big summer is on the horizon at the London Stadium. West Ham need to ensure they improve on this season’s disappointing league campaign. Considering the investment last summer, more was expected of Moyes’ side. If the Hammers fail to start the 2023/24 season strongly, calls for the Scot to depart the club will intensify.
