West Ham want to sign PSG striker Mauro Icardi – report
West Ham are considering making a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi this summer, according to Il Mattino.
The Hammers are working hard to sign a striker to give Michael Antonio competition going into the next season.
On the other hand, Icardi’s future at the Paris-based club is even more uncertain as the current Ligue 1 champions are in advanced discussions to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca in the summer.

Icardi has been with the French club since the summer of 2020 when he moved from Serie A club Inter Milan in a deal worth £45million [Transfermarkt].
Goal Machine
Icardi is the kind of striker that guarantees you goals, it is as simple as that. If you have followed the player from his days in Inter Milan, the striker is a fox in the box and combines really well with his wingers.
Unfortunately for the 29-year-old, he hasn’t seen regular first-team minutes and has only added four goals in the recently concluded season with PSG [Footystats].

In the 24 appearances he made for Pochettino’s team, he only started 10 of those games in all competitions, despite being on a huge £665,000-a-month [talkSPORT].
There is always an argument that Icardi offers very little other than scoring goals but if the Hammers sign and play him consistently, they can almost be certain that he will give them goals.
Considering Jarrod Bowen is already enjoying linking up with the likes of Harry Kane and Tammy Abraham for his national side, he would be dancing to the news of playing alongside another world-class striker.
In other West Ham news, we have already rejected a Championship team’s approach for one of our defenders who played just once last season.
