West Ham want to sign Giovanni Simeone

West Ham want to sign Hellas Verona loan striker Giovanni Simeone in 2022, according to a new report.

The Daily Express claim that the Irons had tried to sign Diego Simeone’s son earlier this year, but for whatever reason, they couldn’t complete the deal [Calciomercato].

However, it seems as if the Irons haven’t given up on the 26-year-old Argentinian international and could look to make a move for him at some point in 2022.

There are problems facing the Irons though as the player is on loan at Verona from Cagliari and they are set to trigger their purchase clause to sign Simeone.

Therefore, it’s unclear whether the Hammers will get the chance to hijack any deal and there is a feeling that they may have to consider other targets.

West Ham only have one first-team striker, so if they could sign Simeone, then David Moyes’ squad would be in an even stronger position than they are currently.

Simeone could be ideal.

The former Genoa forward has made 190 Serie A appearances in which he has scored 59 goals, so he has a strong record in a top European league.

So you would think that he could be a really good addition to the Irons.

He is also only 26, so he seems to be at the right age for this Hammers team and could be a great addition to a young and hungry squad.

The fact that the Hammers already wanted him, you would think that this could be a move that is easily resurrected.

He has also been described as “brilliant” by Outside of the Boot in the past, so he is clearly a player who people in the football world rate.

So far this season, for one of the unfancied sides in the division, Simeone has scored nine goals.

This would make him the top scorer in this West Ham side [WhoScored].

There are so many reasons why this deal makes perfect sense from the Irons’ point of view, and we will be intrigued to see what happens.
