West Ham want to sell Andriy Yarmolenko this summer
West Ham United want to sell Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko this summer, according to Ekrem Konur.
The Twitter-verified journalist claims that the Hammers are ready to do business for around £5.15million, with the earlier linked Turkish giants Fenerbahce yet to table an official bid.
Konur posted last night (Sunday): “West Ham want to sell Yarmolenko this season. The figure determined for his testimonial is £5.15million. Yarmolenko earns £5,200,000 a year from West Ham. As of now, there is no official offer from Fenerbahçe.”
Time to sell?
Yarmolenko has just a year left on his current deal, and a renewal does not appear to be on the cards despite his impressive European Championship campaign with Ukraine.
The 31-year-old scored twice and assisted another two in five games at the tournament, doing more in those appearances than he did for West Ham in the Premier League last season.
Yarmolenko assisted just once in 15 top-flight games, although he started just one of them, totalling 363 minutes of football [whoscored].
While he scored five league goals in 23 games in 2019-20, we may never truly see the winger’s best in a Hammers shirt, and it could be best for both parties to part ways this summer.
He has not done anything to justify his hefty wages since joining us from Borussia Dortmund in July 2018 for £17.5million [Sky Sports], and selling him even for the reported amount and getting him off the bill would do the club’s finances some good.
We would love to see the Euros 2020 version of the Ukrainian at the London Stadium, but that is probably not going to happen, and an exit appears to be very much on the cards.
