West Ham want to register Thilo Kehrer before Brighton fixture

West Ham United are edging closer to completing the signing of PSG defender Thilo Kehrer, according to Evening Standard.

The Hammers are in the market to sign a centre-back after the newly-signed defender Nayef Aguerd suffered an injury in the pre-season which ruled him out for a considerable amount of time.

As per the latest report, the player is expected to travel to London on Tuesday to complete his medical for the move.

The report further stated that the Irons are hoping to register the player in time to feature in their next league fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Top signing

West Ham came into the transfer market hoping to sign many players to strengthen a number of positions.

One of the positions they were keen to bolster was the centre-back one and they must’ve thought the addition of Aguerd would be enough for them to sort that position out.

However, an injury to the 26-year-old changed the plans at the London Stadium and the signing of Kehrer is definitely a step in that direction.

The 25-year-old is definitely going to be an excellent signing as he is young enough to improve and already has the experience of playing football at the highest level, both with the club and international teams.

Kehrer will leave PSG after spending four seasons at the club following his move from German club FC Schalke 04 in a deal worth £33.3 million in the summer of 2018.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 128 matches across all competitions where he managed to score four goals and provided four assists as well [Transfermarkt].
