West Ham want to complete Maxwel Cornet signing before Friday midday

Burnley’s star winger Maxwel Cornet is now edging closer to completing a move to West Ham United, according to 90min.

The Hammers have been linked with the 25-year-old, who has been attracting interest from a number of other clubs in England as well, throughout the campaign.

As per the latest report, the Irons are keen to complete all the paperwork and medical of the player before midday on Friday to register him to be eligible to take part in the club’s season opener against defending champions Manchester City.

Strength In Depth

Despite the signing of Gianluca Scamacca, David Moyes is seeking further additions to the squad as he hopes to bring West Ham into the Premier League top six.

Signing a quality winger was always a priority for the former Everton boss this summer and the club was heavily linked with former Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard but he opted to join Nottingham Forest.

With Cornet set to join, it seems that the Hammers will have that position sorted out as he will be a part of a formidable front three of Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen at the London Stadium.

Despite the relegation, Cornet, who joined the Clarets in the summer of 2021, was one of the few positives for Burnley last season where he managed to score nine goals and provided one assist in 26 appearances in the Premier League [Transfermarkt].

Therefore, West Ham fans will be hoping to see similar kinds of performances from Cornet for their club in the upcoming season.
