West Ham very unlikely to sign a striker this summer

West Ham are reportedly not likely to sign a striker either to serve as a backup or be an upgrade on Michail Antonio this summer.

According to Claret & Hugh, the Hammers have nearly a zero per cent chance of landing a striker before the window shuts in a couple of weeks.

They have been in the hunt for someone to lead the line since Sebastien Haller left, but per the report, are set for a disappointing end to their quest of finding a replacement.

It read, “David Moyes’ chances of signing a striker as backup – or to compete with Mickey Antonio – have all but sunk to zero.

“And the reality is that we are likely to face our most inactive transfer window in years.”

What are we doing?

We’ve had months to plan our quest to bring in a new striker and with only a handful of days left for the window to shut, we’re no closer to narrowing in on signing one.

For the longest time, it seemed that the club were serious in their pursuit of Tammy Abraham, but we failed to sign him either and he went to Roma.

Recent reports have linked us with Liverpool forward Divock Origi [ExWHUemployee], which given the alternatives, seems like the most realistic bet this summer.

He would be the one who would offer competition to Antonio and possibly take his place in our starting eleven.

Origi is also Premier League proven so we don’t think he should have a hard time adapting to life at the London Stadium, and would hopefully, hit the ground running.

However, given such updates, we’re unsure whether any signing will take place this summer as it’s been such a disappointing window.
